More New Mamas!

Wow, more new mamas writing on This Mommy Gig - we’re just full of wisdom and fun here!

Introducing the newest moms: (and if you missed reading about the rest of us, you can read all of the bios at The Moms.)

Diane Cordell

Diane Cordell 2008Diane Cordell has been there, done that, hopes to do it again as a grandmother in the not too distant future.

Diane Expecting in 1977

A K-12 SLMS (School Library Media Specialist = teacher/librarian), Diane works in a small rural district in upstate New York. Next year, she plans to “retire” to an online position with CyberSmart!

An empty nester now, Diane had her first child in 1977, her second in 1980. She was a stay-at-home Mom for about 10 years before returning to the workforce. There have been challenges and changes, but an interesting 35-year marriage partnership with artist/musician husband Tim, and a stubborn, inquiring mind have helped stave off boredom.

Diane is a mother, she will continue to work. And read. And knit. And write for her blog, Journeys. And enjoy living and learning. You can also find her on twitter as @dmcordell.

Rachael Cahours Acklin

Rachael with CameraRachael Cahours Acklin has two last names because she likes her maiden name AND her new husband’s last name. She lives in Michigan with her three awesome kids, one extremely hot husband, no pets except for dust bunnies, and several computers running multiple operating systems.

She’s a geek and a caffeine lover, and regularly wears comfy pants. She recently quit her job to be a full-time web designer for her own company: Caffeinated Design & Hosting (http://caffeinatedelf.com), which was both scary and wildly exciting. Her favorite pastimes include browsing other designers’ portfolios for inspiration, teaching her kids how to use Linux, uploading photos of trees to Flickr, and eating chocolate cake with her husband at half past midnight, while watching reruns of Original Star Trek (NERD ALERT!).

She blogs about her family, writes geeky advice, and rants about the Michigan economy almost every day at Antithete, and you can also find her on Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed , Flickr , and lots of other places too.

Kristen Keller

Kristen Keller with SonA mother to two boys, ages 3 and 1, Kristen Keller believes she has found the perfect balance in juggling work and family – working three days a week out of her home office as an independent public relations consultant and spending the other days rediscovering the simple pleasures in life through activities such as treasure hunts, running through sprinklers, and looking for dinosaur bones in the sandbox with her boys. That’s not to say she doesn’t work many a late night to compensate for her “days off.” But she’s not complaining.Kristen Keller at Beach

Every day begins at 6:30 when Kristen wakes up and prepares for the day. Her older son (who recently got a new clock in his room) will yell shortly after, “Mommy, it’s 7-0-0!” Then it’s time to get the boys dressed, pack the bags and get the kids to school or out for the activity du jour – either way, every day is an adventure. An avid Starbucks fan, Kristen can usually find a way to incorporate a chai tea stop into her day; her kids can spot the Starbucks logo from a mile away (is that wrong?).

Kristen lives with her husband, boys and two dogs in Ewing, NJ. In any “me” time she can get, Kristen enjoys reading a good book (favorite author is James Patterson), treating herself to a pedicure, taking late night walks with a good friend, and watching “Desperate Housewives” with the girls.

You can connect with Kristen on LinkedIn or on Twitter at @kkeller0704.
