Susan,

Don't make the decision on a whim and preferably do not get your tattoo at a flash shop. Pick something that is personal and speaks to you...something that you will be comfortable seeing for the rest of your life. Then ask around for a reputable tattoo artist and ask them to first sketch your tattoo before deciding to go all in. Each artist has a different style, so don't be afraid to shop around...this is YOUR body and art.

Rachael,

Now if only we could defend body piercings... ;)

It's nice that our generation are the adults now, so there's not much need to defend body art, lol. I can't wait to get my first tattoo, but my husband needs to finish designing it. ;)

Here's my question - how do you decide what kind of tattoo is right for you? I've been debating one for a long time, but my problem is that I can't decide what I want!

Great article... I always like to see people dispelling the norm. My wife and I have been debating on a tattoo each: her Pinky and I the Brain!
