		<description>I'm on board with your blender routine! I worried at first about letting my preschooler "help" with the handmixer when we made cakes. (What parent lets a child play with power tools? Oh, that's right, my husband does! My boys have been "helping" with power tools since they were old enough to lift them.) It all worked out fine. He was old enough to understand that he could get hurt if he wasn't careful, and as he demonstrated appropriate caution, he was rewarded by me offering him gradually more independence in the process. Now 8, he's very helpful with most projects -- because we allowed and encouraged him to be from such a young age.

Great post. I'd read you @think:lab before, but I think that your paragraphs about "the neighbors" are some of your best ever!</description>
