Read on for a chance to win a box of the Don’t Bite Me! bug repellent patches…………….
The name of this product cracks me up - Don’t Bite Me! The product itself really isn’t all that funny, but it is pretty innovative and useful. I received an email about this product right after visiting the doctor with my 16-month-old son and being told that the answer to my son’s horrible bug bites was to, “not let him get stung so much.” Ah, useful information from the M.D., no? This incredibly insightful answer led to my relief when I was approached about reviewing the Don’t Bite Me! bug repellent patch.
The Don’t Bite Me! patch is DEET Free and claims to protect against mosquitoes, gnats, no seeums, ticks, chiggers and sand fleas. The inclusion of ticks on that list was another reason for my interest - my same much-bitten son recently had a deer tick embedded in his back, which was cause for a LOT of worry on my part because of the risk of Lyme Disease in deer ticks.
The Don’t Bite Me! website gives this additional information about the product:
The active ingredient, Vitamin B1 is the NATURAL repellent that keeps the bugs away. The Vitamin B1 is absorbed into the bloodstream through a natural trans dermal patch that is applied directly to your skin.
When applied two hours before going outdoors, the Don’t Bite Me! Patch is effective for up to 36 hours! The patch is DEET FREE, waterproof and safe for use on children. No messy sprays, lotions or towelettes — just apply directly to your skin, and leave on for the desired time of coverage.
How’d It Work?
My husband was actually the first one in our family to try the patch after being attacked by gnats.
Unfortunately he wasn’t able to apply the patch 2 hours in advance, so may not have experienced full results. He said the patch was unnoticeable and was easy to apply. By the way, when you think of the patch, think of a clear square sticker. It’s almost invisible once it’s applied to the skin.
I put a patch on my son the next day and it seemed to do a decent job of keeping the bugs off. He didn’t mind having it on and we left it on for most of the day. The only issue I had was removing the patch - it stuck SO well that I had to do a bit of yanking to take it off. It’s like a band-aid in that it’s best to remove it VERY quickly. I plan to use these patches a lot more in the future, but just have to remember to apply them in advance of our outside time.
You can buy this product at many different retailers and can also order from the company’s website.

We have 3 boxes of the Don’t Bite Me! patch for our readers - yay for you! What’s the game this time? Super, super simple - all you need to do is comment on this post. That’s it. An intelligible response would be splendid, but I guess a simple, “yo, what’s up” would work too. Even better would be sharing your favorite trick for keeping the bugs off your family - dogs too. I swear my dog was put on this earth to collect ticks, it’s disgusting!
The contest will end June 25th.
Have at it - this should be an easy win!

Yo, what’s up?
Ok, you had to expect that.
Anyway, this sounds like a wonderful product. I haven’t yet put any bug spray on my children. We just don’t go out much when there’s bugs out there. But I hate hiding from the bugs almost as much as I hate bug spray. This sounds like a great alternative. I’ll have to give it a try.
Thanks for letting us know about it.

Hey Kate — the drugstore sells little wipes that help remove sticky adhering bandages to the skin, and they are painless. When I had eye surgery and had to wear a clear plastic shield over my eye, I had to use their tape to make it stay. They gave me these little wipes to help remove the tape since it was a good tape. Removing tape from the tender skin around the eye can be painful and damaging to the skin, not to mention the sticky residue that is left behind. The wipes were somewhat oily, but they smelled good and washed away easily. I wouldn’t have used that tape and the shield without the pads to remove them.
These would be fabulous for travel, too. I could have used these when we went to Ghana. We were in urban areas, but there were little mosquitos. I felt like we had a higher stake in not being bitten given all the bad stuff mosquitos there carry.
My 7-year-old daugther is a bug magnet. She’s the first one at her after-school and summer program to get bit. In fact, that’s how the director knows its time to call for an exterminator. She’s even hestitant to play in our own yard. Her villains are mosquitoes, fire ants and spiders. I’d love to try a new product for her. My other daughter hardly ever gets bit, but when she does, it’s no big deal to her. I know she probably wouldn’t let me try a patch on her because she hates having stickers, bandaids, nametags or anthing else on her. So, we’re lucky the bugs like her sister more.
I think this would be great for those who like to garden. How well did it repel the bugs from your hubby when he didn’t put it on 2 hrs ahead of time? We try to get outside before it gets too hot, but then you’ve got to deal with the bugs.
What is the age recommendation of this? I wouldn’t want to use bug spray on my little one, but if this is not harmful, it might be worth it.

I can’t believe I forgot to include that! It’s 100% safe for kids - no DEET or other harmful chemicals

I would love to try these!! My 18 month old son gets frequent bug bites too! It’s horrible to see, but I always thought it was just one of those things; if he goes in the backyard he’ll get a few bites. I would love to use this product since it’s specifically designed for little ones and safe for their skin.
I would love to try these!!
Okay, my family goes camping about once a month. We just can’t seem to stay indoors. The bugs are terrible living in hot and humid south Texas. We haven’t found a product that can work the way it claims it does. I would love to win these wipes and give them a try.
Sounds like a great product!
Hi! My first time here. We are an Army family currently stationed in Germany but are leaving in a few days and headed home to North Carolina! We are staying at my moms house for a few months before we head to our next duty station. My Mom and I have already been trying to figure out ways for the kids not to get eat up with mosquitoes, because they are awful at her house! I have never heard of these but would love to try them out on my 4 little ones. Being in Germany the past 3 years we haven’t had to worry about mosquitoes, but coming back home I’m not looking forward to their little bites. They seem to love me and my kids. When we went home to visit last year we all got ate up by the little buggers. Thanks for the chance to win such a kewl giveaway!

I am always looking for a chemical free way to keep mosquitos and such form biting but many products just can’t stand up to our lifestyle. These sound great.
Great product!
this would be sooo great for camping trips, i always get at least one huge bite even though i wear tons of bug spray!
We have so many bugs where I live…I hate to let my daughter go outdoors, which is terrible. Maybe these would help!
I think I will need to give these a try. I have 2 boys and one gets bite all the time. They don’t like putting bug spray on all the time, but I can’t stress enough how important it is. The West Nile thing scares me.
This sounds so perfect! I definitely want to try this on my four children when we go camping this summer!
i hate mosquitoes we live near woods and my yard is always full of them i usually use off to keep em off me..
count me in!
oh i am always getting bitten by bugs in the summer, this would be great to try. thanks!
this would be great for our camping trip!
Well, I’m excited about this! I have had zero luck with keep bugs off my husband and daughter. Bugs don’t like me (knock, knock, knock), so this is purely for the peeps in my life. Thanks!
I’ll believe it when I try it!
Hi! Thanks for this post! The first time I heard the name it cracked me up, too. I have a friend that uses these for her son and she swears by them. We are in central Texas and in summertime, we have mosquitoes that could eat out of a garbage truck while standing flat-footed on the ground! And I am so allergic to them that one could fly by my window and I get a welt! I can’t wait to try these this year as we are big gardeners and just outdoor people in general. Last year we got a really nice grill and enjoy eating outside, just not smelling like bug spray. And did I mention we are expecting? Just in time for summer (due May 27) and I am bringing all the Don’t Bite Me info to my doctor so he can clear me to use the patch (since he said I shouldn’t use spray). Thanks for the review and the chance to win some of these patches!
Guinea Hens!!! Okay, you asked how to get rid of tickets. Hey not very practical where I live but they work. Would love to try the Don’t Bite me Patch. Me and my oldest daughter are like bug magnets. And we both itch like crazy from the bites. Worth a shot right?
I spend most of my time in the outdoors where there are terrible amounts of bugs! I will be kayaking all summer in the wilderness through tundra, where the mosquitos are bigger, thicker and more aggressive than the everglades! I usually have to use 100% DEET, even though I hate to! Also Pyrethium powder, a natural flower from ? Africa i think, works to clear out teh tents and mosquito nettings. Burn the powder in a bit of aluminum foil and the mosquitos die!
I am excitied to try this product! If it works it will become my favorite and I will have to buy stock since I will buy it and tell all rangers I know!
Strategy for keeping bugs off? We don’t go outside! I was using Bite Blocker for myself, but our container is empty. I’m shopping for a new “natural” bug repellent. My kids don’t really seem to get bit - they eat a lot of bananas which I think I read helps. Also drinking orange juice. I HATE the gnats, which constantly fly around my face, and I worry about ticks. I need something that works! So I’m researching, and came upon this patch and am looking up reviews. I’d love to try some for free!
P.S. What are the patches made of? I hope not plastic - I’d hate to be throwing away all those pieces of plastic when the patch is done. Rather use a lotion or spray in that case.
I would love to try these patches. we live in fl…aka mosqutio central. my youngest who is two came in the other night and had bite marks all over her boday about 30 total(I guess the mosquitos like her). I dont use anything on her like deet(or myself for that matter) because it is a scary chemical. I am praying I win these patches cause they would be very useful for me and my family.
Cassie
whats up!
I love your blog! You keep it simple! I would love to use the Don’t Bite Me Patches! Because they are much easier to use on children. The sprays that are out there to buy i dont like them because you have to be very careful where you spray on! But this will be perfect for children.
Please send me samples. My daughter is scared from head to toe. It has been an awful summer and looks like it’s going to be a bad fall as well. We need help
